I found myself unable to stop myself from reading on, even as the clock approached 3am on a work night!

Truly gripping! While you know how the story is going to turn out, you find yourself rooting for Grace so much, in despair at her horrific situation, that you must be with her every step of the way. An enjoyable read! Ignore nit-picky reviews about plausibility and writing style. This is the best suspense novel I have ever read.

Very cleverly written, keeps you locked in right from the start. I was intrigued by the cover blurb for this much hyped first novel; the storyline sounded very promising so I went ahead and bought it without looking at customer reviews. A pity, as the execution leaves much to be desired.

It is quite an easy read; i finished it quickly but it left me feeling very dissatisfied.

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS | meaning in the Cambridge English Dictionary

The author doesn't seem to have done much background research and the editorial team at Harper Collins have let her get away with it. I am happy to suspend a certain amount of disbelief in thrillers but too many glaring inaccuracies stretch my credulity too far and I start to notice the holes in the plot and the characterisation.

So it was with this. How could Grace afford Millie's boarding school fees and a mortgage on a property in Wimbledon on her salary? I think not. How did Jack create his new identity, get his qualifications etc? Details are either frankly implausible or glossed over completely. As for the end, looking back, I can say it is quite unbelievable. Surely the police would have noticed certain oddities don't want to give the plot away of the house and the strange circumstances of the death?

It was a great idea for a story but poor research, characterisation and plotting means it does not live up to its expectations. The story switches between the present and the past, gradually building up the full extent of the situation. This allows for the tension to be gradually increased. Grace is a really strong character.

She tries to fight and find ways out of her situation, however Jack is a master manipulator, and he continually ups his psychological games. Her sister, Millie is equally as strong, and because of her condition, people underestimate her capabilities and understanding.

I loved Millie and wanted to wrap her in a hug every time. I could picture her so easily, B. Paris did an excellent job of writing her character. This is a seriously twisted storyline and I absolutely loved it.

Behind Closed Doors

Paris is a new author for me, and I will definitely be reading more of her books in the future. Format: Paperback Verified Purchase. This book was sat on my bookshelf for a while until I picked it up a few weeks ago. This is my first B A Paris novel and I loved it! We follow Grace and Jack, the perfect couple to everyone until the front door closes behind them. The story unfolds in the past and present tense. How the pair met and how everything began to fall apart. I liked Grace's character and I felt so sorry for her and the predicament she's in.

I loathed Jack. Full on hated him.

**The Million Copy Bestseller**

The novel is suspenseful and packed full of drama. There were many "oh my god" moments when Grace was trying to pull off her mad ideas and the tension was thick towards the end of it. I guessed well before the end what actually happened, maybe because it's what I would've done if I were Grace.

Nevertheless, it didn't take away from the reading of it and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

From a strategic position, she's making a mistake," Amash said. She should tell the American people, we're going to move forward with impeachment hearings and potentially articles of impeachment. Amash slams Pelosi for not pursuing impeachment Amash continued: "When she says things like, 'Oh, I think that we need to have the strongest case before we go forward,' what she's telling the American people is, she doesn't think there's a strong case.

If she doesn't think that, then she shouldn't open her mouth in the first place and say she thinks there's impeachable conduct. The Michigan lawmaker's break with the Republican Party added fuel to growing speculation that he will seek the Libertarian Party nomination and launch a long-shot bid for president in , which he has not ruled out. When asked by Tapper on Sunday about a possible presidential bid, Amash repeated that he "wouldn't rule anything like that out" but said he could not put a timeline on his decision.
