What is interesting about this book is how all the essays have preceding introductory essays by modern psychologists putting the essays by Adler in a modern context, clarifying how they relate to more recent thinking and theories. I very much enjoy that part. It definitely holds my intellectual interest.
Alfred Adler Revisited - CRC Press Book
And it gives me more books to read in the future. I suppose one wouldn't be reading a book of year old psychological ideas if one didn't believe there could be some value in them. But at the same time I like the modern updates as not all of Adler's ideas read as if they were written yesterday. Although some of the difficulty might just be related to the world we live in. It's hard to even grasp the concept of "social interest" in modern America - and I'm only half joking there.
Alfred Adler Revisited
So I'd recommended this book if you are looking for a partial introduction to Adler's ideas. It's not comprehensive. Other than that it's a book of essays by Alfred Adler, not much else to say.
Since as a layman, what particular psychologist's thoughts one most relates to seems to be as personal as taste, I don't know how worth they are adding to a book review. I do think some, maybe many, of Adler's theories such as on insomnia are too general, but it doesn't mean they are without some validity in a more limited context.
I don't know how often the parallel is drawn, but some of Adler's thinking very much reminds me of Eric Berne, as it's describing some symptoms as being elaborate psychological game playing in an interpersonal context. All of the introductions by modern day authors help the reader comprehend the current day science, particularly Richard Watt's linkage of Individual Psychology and Positive Psychology.

Description Alfred Adler was one of the most influential thinkers in psychotherapy - a physician, psychiatrist, author, and professor who wanted to answer the questions that plagued people during a significant time in history. His original ideas serve as a foundation for most modern theories of counseling and psychotherapy, ideas and writings that are brought back to life in this volume.
Within, contemporary experts comment and introduce Adler's work through the lens of the 21st century. In doing so, they pay tribute to, analyze, and disseminate his classic, seminal papers that have significantly impacted the therapy field.
